DSU’s Ironman Training is in its fourth year! In 2007, 100% of all DSU Ironman athletes finished their first Ironman or improved their previous performances!

Coaching
Tom Ryan, Dallas Athletes founder and president of Dallas Sports University, along with his assistants coach and direct all Ironman Training. Tom was named back-to-back “Triathlon Coach of the Year” by Competitor Magazine. He is a four-time Ironman finisher, 20-year triathlete with multiple age group wins at regional and national races.

For 2008, DSU offers only individual Ironman coaching. In 2009, DSU will add a group, Ironman training opportunity! So you will see in the information below there is only ONE Ironman training option.
Ironman Coaching
Complete-Custom Ironman Training (CCIT)
This option is for the athlete interested in completing their first Ironman or improving on a previous performance. Weekly workouts are created from scratch for the individual and designed specificallyfor Ironman triathlons. CCIT athletes learn the intricacies of how their body works in conjunction with strength training, rest, proper nutrition, endurance and performance training.
CCIT includes:
- Weekly custom training schedule w/two schedule adjustments per week
- Heart rate or perceived exertion specific
- On-line training log ($100 value)
- Race specific schedule
- Pre and post race review for all “A, B, & C” races either phone, or face-to-face
- Three, weekly athlete initiated phone calls, if needed
- Strength Training (six-weeks) $149 value. Required for all CCIT athletes
- One, nutrition food journal review with dietitian, Sara Sims
- Coached, group workouts
Cost for 25-weeks of CCIT:
DSU members - $1095 (includes Strength Training [$149] and on-line training log [$100 value])
Non-DSU members - $1195(includes Strength Training [$149] and on-line training log [$100 value])
Note: If an athlete has already completed the DSU Strength Training Program, $149 is subtracted from their fee of $1095, equalling, $946!
Note:CCIT athletes will be required to have their VO2 Max tested to measure cardio-respiratory fitness and establish heart rate training zones. Testing done at Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center at a cost of $90 to the athlete. If athlete has had a VO2 Max in the past 12-months, one will not be required.
