Full Marathon Training Time Table
Strength Training (6-weeks): April 28-June 8 for MC. June 16-27 for WR.
Endurance Training (26 weeks): Begins April 28 for MC. June 9 for WR.

Full Marathon Training Options
For each marathon, we’ve put together FOUR training options.
Note: Options 2, 3 and 4 will be directed by Tom Ryan.
Options 3 and 4 will also include run leaders and group workout options.
Option One
Simply sign-up for the marathon; train on your own and enjoy the event with other DSU members!
Option Two
Social Training
Social Training is for the people who want a weekly running plan to reach their goal of finishing a half marathon. The majority of the workouts are walk-run focused on endurance and muscle adaptation. Training time per week not to exceed 6-8 hours.
Cost:
$25 per month includes performance nutrition
Strength Training (six weeks) is optional for an additional $149.
Option Three
Semi-Custom Training (SCT)
SCT is for the person interested in performance. Weekly workouts are based on general running formulas designed specifically for marathons. SCT is perfect for an athlete looking to improve marathon performance, moving from a half to a full marathon, rest, proper nutrition, endurance and performance training.
SCT includes:
- Weekly semi-custom training schedule w/one schedule adjustment per week
- Heart rate or perceived exertion specific
- On-line training log ($100 value)
- Race specific schedule
- Pre and post race group review for “A” races
- One, weekly, athlete initiated phone call, if needed
- Two, weekly, athlete initiated e-mails, if needed
- One, nutrition food journal review with dietitian, Sara Sims
- Race and performance nutrition
- Strength Training (six-weeks) $149 value (Optional for SCT athletes)
Cost:
$55 per month without Strength Training
$80 per month, including Strength Training
Option Four
Complete-Custom Training (CCT)
CCT is for the athlete interested in peak performance. Weekly workouts are created from scratch for the individual designed specifically for marathons. CCT is perfect for an athlete looking to reach therr pr, learn the intricacies of how their body works in conjuction with strength training, rest, proper nutrition, endurance and performance training.
CCT includes:
- Weekly custom training schedule w/two schedule adjustments per week
- Heart rate or perceived exertion specific
- On-line training log ($100 value)
- Race specific schedule
- Pre and post race review for all “A, B, & C” races either phone, or face-to-face
- Three, weekly athlete initiated phone calls, if needed
- Strength Training (six-weeks) $149 value (required)
- One, nutrition food journal review with dietitian, Sara Sims
Cost:
$120 per month includes Strength Training!
Note:
CCT athletes will be required to have their VO2 Max tested to measure cardio-respiratory fitness, used to establish heart rate training zones. Testing done at Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center at a cost of $90 to the athlete. If athlete has had a VO2 Max in the past 12-months, one will not be required.
